Description of exercise Thumb push out exercise is a simple but effective hand and finger strengthening exercise. It involves placing your hand flat on a table or surface with your fingers spread apart and your thumb pointing up. Then, push your thumb out to the side as far as you can while keeping your fingers still. Hold this position for a few seconds before returning your thumb to the starting position. Repeat this movement for several repetitions. This exercise targets the muscles in your thumb and helps improve grip strength, dexterity, and coordination. It is often used in physical therapy and can be beneficial for those recovering from hand injuries or conditions such as arthritis.

How to do exercise
  • Position thumb next to palm as shown.
  • Use other hand to prevent thumb from moving.
  • Try to push thumb outward.
  • Relax and repeat.
