Description of exercise Sitting trunk twist with dowel is a simple yet effective exercise that targets the core muscles, specifically the obliques. To perform this exercise, sit on the floor with your legs extended in front of you and hold a dowel or broomstick with both hands behind your head. Slowly twist your torso to one side, keeping your hips and legs stationary, and then return to the starting position. Repeat on the other side. This exercise helps improve spinal mobility and stability, as well as strengthen the muscles that support the spine. It can be modified by using a heavier or lighter dowel, or by adding resistance bands for an extra challenge.

How to do exercise
  • Sit with good posture.
  • Place cane behind neck on shoulders.
  • Rest arms on cane.
  • Look over shoulder and twist.
  • Return to start position and repeat on other side.
