Description of exercise Patty cake ham stretch is a simple yet effective exercise that targets the hamstrings, which are the muscles located at the back of the thighs. To perform this exercise, start by lying on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the ground. Place your hands on your hamstrings, just above the knees. Then, lift your hips off the ground and push your feet into the floor, engaging your hamstrings. While holding this position, alternate tapping your hands on your thighs, as if playing the game “patty cake.” This exercise helps to strengthen and stretch the hamstrings, improving flexibility and reducing the risk of injury. It can also be modified to increase or decrease the intensity, making it suitable for all fitness levels.

How to do exercise
  • Have child sit on floor with back against wall.
  • Straighten child’s and positioned slightly apart.
  • Sit astride child’s legs, facing child as shown.
  • Encourage child to lean and reach forward by playing games like patty cake.
