Description of exercise | Oral sensitivity adaptation with tapping exercise is a technique used to improve sensory processing and tolerance in the oral cavity. It involves tapping specific areas of the mouth with a finger or a small tool, such as a toothbrush, to stimulate the nerves and desensitize the area. This can be particularly helpful for individuals who have difficulty with certain textures or temperatures of food, or who have hypersensitivity in the mouth. The tapping exercise can gradually increase in intensity and duration to help the individual become more comfortable and less reactive to oral stimuli. This technique can be used in occupational therapy for children with sensory processing disorders, as well as adults with oral sensory challenges. |
