Description of exercise | The half moon exercise, also known as Ardha Chandrasana in Sanskrit, is a yoga pose that involves balancing on one leg while reaching the other leg and arm towards the sky. It is a standing pose that requires focus, strength, and flexibility. To begin, one stands with feet together and arms at the sides. The weight is then shifted onto one leg as the other leg is lifted and extended behind the body. The arm on the same side as the lifted leg is then extended towards the sky, creating a half moon shape with the body. This pose helps to improve balance, strengthen the legs and core, and open up the chest and shoulders. It also promotes mental clarity and concentration. |
