Description of exercise The Elastic half kneel AK/BK balance 2 exercise is a dynamic and challenging exercise that focuses on improving balance and stability in individuals with above or below knee amputations. This exercise requires the use of an elastic band or resistance band to provide support and resistance during the movement.To perform this exercise, the individual starts in a half-kneeling position with the affected leg in front and the elastic band attached to the opposite side of the body. The individual then reaches forward and diagonally with the affected arm while simultaneously extending the affected leg behind them, maintaining balance and control throughout the movement.This exercise helps to strengthen the core, hip, and leg muscles, as well as improve coordination and proprioception. It is important to start with a light resistance band and gradually increase the resistance as strength and balance improve. This exercise can be modified for individuals with different levels of amputation and can be incorporated into a comprehensive rehabilitation program to improve overall functional ability.

How to do exercise
  • Attach elastic to secure object in front.
  • Half kneel on non amputated leg with prosthesis on.
  • Grasp elastic in hands and pull, maintaining balance.
  • Release tension on elastic and repeat.
