Description of exercise Elastic down and out exercise is a type of financial derivative contract that gives the holder the right, but not the obligation, to sell an underlying asset at a predetermined price (strike price) within a specific time period. This type of option is called “down and out” because it becomes null and void if the price of the underlying asset falls below a certain level (barrier). The “elastic” aspect refers to the fact that the barrier level can change over time, depending on market conditions. This type of exercise is often used by investors to protect against potential losses in their portfolio, as it allows them to sell the underlying asset at a predetermined price if the market moves in an unfavorable direction.
