Description of exercise DB step down touch shoulder to shoulder is a compound exercise that targets the lower body, specifically the glutes, hamstrings, and quads, while also engaging the core and shoulders. To perform this exercise, you will need a pair of dumbbells and a step or elevated surface.Start by standing with your feet hip-width apart, holding the dumbbells at your sides. Step one foot back onto the elevated surface, keeping your weight on the front leg. As you lower your body into a lunge position, simultaneously raise the opposite arm up and across your body to touch the opposite shoulder.Push through the front heel to stand back up, bringing the elevated foot back to the starting position. Repeat on the other side, alternating legs and arms with each rep. This exercise helps to improve balance, coordination, and strength in the lower body and shoulders. It can be modified by using lighter weights or a lower step, or intensified by using heavier weights or a higher step.

How to do exercise
  • Stand on step on left leg holding weights in hands at shoulder level.
  • Bend left knee and touch right heel to floor.
  • Return keeping arms at shoulder height.
  • Repeat.
