Description of exercise Balance/weight shift prone exercise is a type of exercise that involves lying face down on the ground or a mat and shifting your weight from one side to the other. To perform this exercise, you can start by lying on your stomach with your arms extended out in front of you. Slowly lift one arm and the opposite leg off the ground, while keeping your hips and shoulders level. Hold this position for a few seconds before returning to the starting position. Repeat on the other side and continue alternating for several repetitions. This exercise challenges your body to maintain balance and control while in a prone position, making it a great addition to any workout routine.

How to do exercise
  • Weight shifting and balance help promote protective responses for falls. Try the following activities:
  • While child is lying face down use toys to encourage them to lift one arm up while shifting weight to other side.
  • While lying on your back place child face down on your stomach. Gently rock side to side while supporting child and encourage child to tilt to opposite direction of rocking.
