Description of exercise The backward lunge step twist is a dynamic exercise that targets the lower body and core muscles. To perform this exercise, start by standing with your feet hip-width apart and your hands clasped together at your chest. Take a big step back with your right foot and lower your body until your right knee is almost touching the ground. At the same time, twist your torso to the left, keeping your arms straight in front of you. Push through your left heel to return to the starting position and repeat on the other side. This exercise helps to improve balance, stability, and overall lower body strength.

How to do exercise
  • Begin standing. Step backward with right leg into a deep lunge and squat and twist trunk to right.
  • Step backward into standing.
  • Step backward with left leg into deep lunge and squat and twist trunk to left.
  • Step backward into standing.
  • Repeat lunge and squat backward stepping with trunk twists.
