Description of exercise The AK residual limb bridge exercise is a physical therapy exercise designed to strengthen the muscles in the residual limb of individuals who have undergone an above-the-knee amputation. This exercise involves lying on the back with the knees bent and feet flat on the ground, and then lifting the hips off the ground to create a bridge position. The individual then holds this position for a few seconds before slowly lowering back down. This exercise helps to improve balance, stability, and strength in the residual limb, allowing for better mobility and function. It can also help prevent muscle atrophy and improve overall fitness and quality of life for those with above-the-knee amputations.
