Description of exercise Hand open and release exercise is a simple yet effective exercise that helps to improve hand and finger strength and flexibility. To perform this exercise, start by making a fist with your hand and then slowly open your fingers one by one until your hand is fully extended. Hold this position for a few seconds and then slowly release your fingers back into a fist. Repeat this movement for a few repetitions. This exercise can also be done with a small object, such as a stress ball, held in the palm of your hand. It helps to improve grip strength and dexterity, making it a great exercise for athletes, musicians, and individuals recovering from hand injuries.

How to do exercise
  • Have child in sitting position.
  • Place a box of toys in front of child.
  • Let them pick up a toy and stroke or brush the back of their hand to encourage them to open hand and release toy.
