Description of exercise Thumb stretch out exercise is a simple and effective way to improve flexibility and strength in the thumb. To perform this exercise, start by holding your hand out in front of you with your palm facing up. Then, use your other hand to gently pull your thumb back towards your wrist, feeling a stretch in the base of your thumb. Hold the stretch for 10-15 seconds, then release and repeat on the other hand. This exercise helps to improve mobility in the thumb joint, which is important for daily tasks such as writing, gripping objects, and using electronic devices. It can also help alleviate pain and stiffness in the thumb caused by conditions like arthritis.
Do each time for how long Do this for 10 times, or do as many times instructed by your doctor.
Do daily for how many time Do daily two times, or do as per instructed by your doctor.
Do for how many days Do for two to three weeks, or do upto days told by your doctor.
How to do exercise
  • Place thumb of one hand over other thumb as shown.
  • Bend thumb inward to base of little finger.
  • Hold thumb in this position and let go with other thumb.
  • Next, straighten thumb.
  • Use other thumb to stretch.
  • Hold thumb in this position and remove other thumb.
  • Repeat sequence.
