Description of exercise TMJ (temporomandibular joint) open finger guiding exercise is a simple and effective exercise that helps to alleviate the symptoms of TMJ disorder. It involves gently guiding the jaw open with the help of your fingers. To perform this exercise, place your index and middle fingers on your lower teeth and slowly guide your jaw open, making sure to keep your teeth in line and not allowing them to shift. Hold the position for a few seconds and then slowly close your jaw. Repeat this exercise several times a day to help improve jaw mobility and reduce pain and discomfort associated with TMJ disorder.
Do each time for how long Do this for 10 times, or do as many times instructed by your doctor.
Do daily for how many time Do daily two times, or do as per instructed by your doctor.
Do for how many days Do for two to three weeks, or do upto days told by your doctor.
How to do exercise
  • Stand in front of mirror.
  • Place tip of tongue behind top teeth on the roof of mouth.
  • Position index finger on the most involved TMJ.
  • Position index finger of other hand on front of chin.
  • Open jaw and guide jaw down and back with finger.
  • Make sure jaw opens straight.
  • Repeat.
