Description of exercise Cane assist overhead rotation exercise is a simple yet effective exercise that involves the use of a cane or stick to improve shoulder mobility and flexibility. To perform this exercise, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold the cane with both hands at shoulder level. Then, slowly raise the cane overhead while keeping your arms straight and rotate your torso to one side. Hold for a few seconds before returning to the starting position and repeating on the other side. This exercise helps to strengthen the muscles of the shoulders, back, and core while increasing range of motion and reducing stiffness. It is beneficial for individuals with shoulder injuries or those looking to improve their overall shoulder mobility.

How to do exercise
  • Sit in chair.
  • Position arms at 90 degrees out from side, elbows bent, holding cane in hands as shown.
  • Rotate arms up over head, helping the involved arm with the uninvolved arm as needed.
