Description of exercise | Pregnancy SLR (Straight Leg Raise) exercise is a low-impact workout that targets the abdominal and pelvic muscles, which are crucial for a healthy pregnancy and delivery. This exercise involves lying on your back with your legs straight and lifting one leg at a time towards the ceiling, while engaging your core muscles. It helps improve blood circulation and strengthens the pelvic floor muscles, which can prevent or alleviate common pregnancy discomforts such as back pain, urinary incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse. Pregnancy SLR exercise also prepares the body for labor and delivery by increasing flexibility and stability in the pelvic area. It is safe to do throughout pregnancy, but it is important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new exercise routine. |
