Description of exercise Cane assist side to side exercise is a low-impact exercise that involves using a cane for support while moving side to side. To perform this exercise, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold onto a cane with one hand. How to do exercise
  • Sit with arms at side, elbows bent.
  • Hold cane in hands as shown.
  • Rotate involved arm away from body, pushing with the cane with the uninvolved arm.
