Description of exercise The caregiver passive arm across exercise involves gently moving the arm of a person who is unable to move it on their own. This exercise helps to maintain or improve range of motion in the arm and shoulder joint, as well as prevent stiffness and muscle atrophy. The caregiver will support the person’s arm at the elbow and slowly move it across their chest, holding for a few seconds before returning to the starting position. This exercise can be done while the person is lying down or sitting, and should be done with caution and communication to ensure the person is comfortable and not experiencing any pain.
Do each time for how long Do this for 10 times, or do as many times instructed by your doctor.
Do daily for how many time Do daily two times, or do as per instructed by your doctor.
Do for how many days Do for two to three weeks, or do upto days told by your doctor.
How to do exercise
  • Lie on back, arm at side, elbow straight.
  • Partner grasps wrist of involved arm, supporting elbow with other hand.
  • Partner gently moves arm across body through available range and returns to side, as shown.
