Description of exercise | Ankle pump exercise is a simple yet effective movement that involves flexing and extending the ankle joint. It is commonly used in physical therapy and rehabilitation to improve range of motion, strength, and circulation in the lower leg and foot. To perform the exercise, the individual lies on their back with their legs straight and then alternately points and flexes their feet, mimicking the motion of pushing and pulling on a gas pedal. This movement helps to strengthen the muscles and tendons in the ankle, reduce swelling and stiffness, and improve blood flow to the lower extremities. It is also a beneficial exercise for those who are recovering from ankle injuries or surgeries. |
